We have had a lazy few days in and around the marina.

We took a bus over to the Rodney Bay area which we have been to before by land.  There has been a lot of development since we were last here.  There are now large supermarkets and shopping malls although there seems to be a relative dearth of shoppers.  There are also some nice developments around the lagoon and some that are now derelict.

We have also been investigating dinghies to replace ours which has an inflatable floor.  The distances to travel in the anchorages are greater out here and the sea is choppier so we think we might have to give in and join everybody else and get one with a rigid floor.  The rigid part is normally glassfibre, surrounded by inflatable tubes but one manufacturer now does one with an aluminium floor.  This is much lighter and therefore the outboard engine doesn't need to be quite as large to make it go (therefore not as heavy in weight or wallet).  A dinghy supplier here is an agent for the one we think we want but of course he doesn't have one in stock.  Then yesterday on the cruisers VHF radio net someone was offering a 12 mth old one for sale.  They had just completed a round the world rally and it was clear the dinghy had had a hard time on some rocky beaches and reefs.  It was still sound but we have today decided against it.  Alll this was to explain why we are still sitting in a marina when we had intended to go off and to anchor somewhere!
