Our fridge is made by Isotherm and their office in Italy was very helpful with technical advice on how to get things working again.  Fortunately the burnt out PCB can be replaced without changing the whole fridge and the UK distributor had one in stock.  I ordered this last Monday in the hope it would reach Lin's parents in time for them to bring it out with them on Thursday.  We have learnt that shipping goods into the Canaries is a long and slow process involving customs agents and delays at the whim of various officials so we were glad when the PCB reached Mon & Nev in time.

Mon and Nev arrived safely on Thursday.  We had booked extra baggage allowance and they brought various heavy items out for us including a heavy specialist power tool to enable me to work on the teak decks.

We drove down to Playa Blanca today so that Lin, Mon and Nev could peruse the Saturday market at the marina whilst I fitted the new £250 electronic control box.  This was straightforward but it was disappointing to find we still have the same light show signifying the same faults.  It looks like the control unit next to the one we have replaced is also damaged.  Oh golly gosh.  Another email to Isotherm's technical department and we hope to get a reply on Monday.

There are a lot of advantages to being in a hot climate but these soon pale when you don't have refridgeration and fresh food barely lasts a day.  This inconvenience becomes an emergency of course once the G & T gets warm so we are glad to be staying ashore in an apartment with a fridge for a couple of weeks.
