Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 March 2013

It's been a little busy ashore.

On Wednesday we were offered some late cancellation tickets to go to Holders, an annual two week 'season' of shows held at Holders House.  So off we went that night to see 'Paul Merton and his Impro Chums' for an enjoyable evening of improvised comedy and to meet more friends on the island.

On Thursday Asa-Britt and Nigel came to the boat for sundowners before we went over for dinner at their place.  And Friday Carol, Mike, Judy, Peter and Mark had sundowners with us and then we all went to Carol and Mike's for dinner.  It's hard being here!

Carol and Mike had invited us to stay with them for a week and Angie and Mark had offered to let us stay at their house whilst they make a visit to see family in the UK.  Both offers were gratefully accepted.

Port St Charles is not really a marina but a waterside property development around a man-made lagoon with slips for boats.  The emphasis is on the properties rather than the boats and so, in order to protect the privacy of property owners, staying on board boats overnight is not allowed.  By Saturday we had already been on the reception berths at Port St Charles for a week.  At just under £100 a day it's not a cheap place to be so we were really happy to have been offered a berth inside the 'marina' by a friend, John Hanschell.  John was going on his boat for a holiday in the Grenadines for 10 days so we were really grateful for his offer although it turned out there were a number of obstacles to be overcome before the powers that be at Port St Charles would let us inside.

So on Saturday we moved the boat to John's berth and we packed some bags to go to Carol and Mike's.

Thanks to the generosity and kindness of John, Carol and Mike, Angie and Mark we have been able to park the boat somewhere safe and spend time ashore with friends and sort a number of things before we move on to other islands.
