The boat was lifted around midday and left in the slings whilst the crane staff went to lunch.  We lowered the rudder and removed both bearings.  The newish top one is fine but the bottom one is a very a sloppy fit around the steel rudder stock (shaft).  We were able to take proper measurements of the diameter of the shaft as well as the overall size of the bearing so we can either order or make up a new one of the correct size.

Nearly all the way out.  The crane had to lift the boat higher to provide enough space underneath for the rudder to be removed:-
