Slower progress today as the wind strength has
dropped and we furled the sails right down in the night for squalls. This
meant we were well set up when the squalls came but slow the rest of the
time. The alternative is to carry more sail and reef only when needed but
as that usually means waking up the off watch person that's not good for
sleep. We want to get as much sleep in as possible at the start to catch
up with the first days losses and we are both starting to sleep better
now.
Sea state improved considerably today as the rough
stuff passed us on it's way south. It really was an unusual sea and we
felt glued to the cockpit for the first 36 hours. Deck work was kept to a
minimum. We are sailing with full sails at
the moment, but at only around 5 knots so progress is modest. The
weather is alternating to cloudy then sunny in the day. We had drizzle
quite often last night and one perod of 'real rain'.
Miss stugeron is feeling more settled now as time
goes on and we are both starting to enjoy light breakfasts and lunches.
Dinner first night was a cup-a-soup!
