Eric, who works for Grenada Marine, appeared at the
boat a few minutes after 8am on Monday to inspect our teak decks and quote for
replacing the caulking. His arrival was a pleasant surprise because having
agreed an 8am meeting and this being the Caribbean we didn't expect him
until 9. He is French and hasn't lived here for long so he thinks he
hasn't acclimatised yet! The rest of the day was spent doing 'chores',
laundry, arranging gas bottle filling etc etc.
In the evening we had drinks with Martin and Tina
on board 'Petronella'. They crossed ahead of us leaving Gran Canaria
in late December and the Cape Verdes in early January. They have picked up
various tips from other cruisers in the Caribbean so we spent a happy hour or so
comparing notes and picking their brains.
On Tuesday we paid up at the marina after 5 very
pleasant days and motored outside the main harbour and joined other boats in the
anchorage. The following day we went ashore by dinghy and picked up the
filled gas bottle, visited the supermarket and the chandlery. There is a
dinghy dock right outside 'Foodland' which is perfect when
provisioning.
This is 'the careenage' in the harbour of St
George's, as seen from the anchorage just outside:-
The anchorage was very rolly and we decided we
would move on tomorow. |
