Lin pointed out whilst we were having our breakfast
that this is the first time in a week we have used a knife and fork to eat - as
opposed to one hand to hold the bowl and the other for the fork or
spoon.
We slept for 4 hours after showering and spent the
afternoon reading and listening to podcasts. A swell started to creep in
to the bay in late afternoon which we think was probably from the north west -
expected a couple of days ago. It stayed comfortable at anchor and it was
a good way to catch our breath before doing the 'formalities' tomorrow. A
far better alternative than checking straight into the marina. There were
half a dozen or so abandoned old ships in the bay and a couple of wrecks just at
the surface. Now it's light we can see why they say it
is not a place to enter in the dark.
As we approached the Cape Verde islands it was time
to lower the courtesy flags for Spain and the Canary Islands:-
The sun rising over Sao Vicente at about 8
am. The 'haze' is partly the Saharan dust which has set in
today:-
