Overcast, continuous rain and occasional (mild) squalls and steady 10-12kn
from S, so decided not stop at Phi Phi and continue on to Phuket.
Arrived E entrance to Au Chalong just after sunset, perfect time and
location for the RADAR, AIS, GPS and Nav PC to decide to stop working!
After a quick couple of minutes detecting, it was discovered a problem with
a transformer to some nav circuits and a quick jury rig would allow either RADAR
or Depth, but not both! Decided on RADAR as dark night and busy anchorage and
crept into a perfect spot and dropped anchor around 2000 on E side of the bay
off a fairly remote Resort beach. Will move over to main anchorage shortly for
better access to Clearance offices and rest of Phuket’s civilisation.
Busy couple of days ahead to prepare for final leg up to Yangon, so will
resume the blog when underway again.
