After a loooooonngg
stop-over at Telaga Marina, Langkawi, finally got a chance to see if the engines
work and boat remembers how to slide through the water!
Zac joined a couple
of weeks ago as new crew, he's been broken in with the myriad of daily jobs and
work - cleaning, varnishing, building.... Meanwhile, had the crane extended and
base altered so - hopefully - it will turn when under load (with dinghy on
it), new freezer finally finished enough (a job started 6 months ago in
Singapore) to be installed and re-gassed and although the lid still needs final
sanding and the rubber seal glued in, early results look very encouraging,
various new shiney varnishy things, various new engine room adjustments and
maintenance, water maker high pressure pump overhauled, pulpit re-bolted to deck
and gunwhale and too many other building, repair and maintenance to even
remember, we are close to ready for the 2,000 miles ahead of us - Langkawi,
Phuket, Banda Aceh, surf charter down Mentawais, Padang, Bali, Lombok and
finally back to last year's home base - Gili Trawangan.
En route to Phuket
we anchored at 0900 this morning off Koh Muk for another visit to Morakot Cave
(Emerald Cave) for Zac's sake. I'm sure I've described this cave in previous
blog posts, although it truely does defy description (which Zac now
appreciates). Pulled anchor mid afternoon after cave visit for the 60 miles to
Phuket. Should arrive around midnight.
