Storm bound in La Rochelle
Journeys of Aardvarc

Set out in calm condition this morning from Ile d'Yeu.
All went well until we wre about 3 hours out from La Rochelle when the wind rapidly increased to 30 gusting 35 knots.
We gained shelter of the land but could not enter La Rochelle marina because of big surfing waves over the very narrow channel.
Depth dropped to 3 metres and we had to quickly turn round into the huge seas and claw our way back out. Eventually sought refuge in a fishing port and
tied up on the fuel jetty but are unable to get off because of glale force winds pressing us onto the pontoon.
Cue beaucoup de dirty looks from the French fishermen.
However, "any port in a storm" , hope it will abate later...
