Lima and Cusco, Peru and local train

After a short flight from Ecuador we were able to meet up with Anne, Diana and Christine.
 
Our first attempt to go by train to Machu Picchu was thwarted by a strike and we had to turn back and go the next day.
 
Struggled a bit with the altitude in Cusco ( 3,800 metres) but they provided oxygen in the hotel rooms.
 
Local dogs sleep on the cows!
 
VW beetles and camper vans are everywhere and even used as locomotives, see pic.
 
Strike continued so only way to get to MP was by helicopter, see next blog.....
