Indonesia is composed of thousands of islands ... at lease 13,000 and is the fourth most populated country in the world.

These photos give an idea of the various occupations local people have.
At first you can see a girl working in a silversmith, handmaking jewellery.

We were taken also to a Batik works where cloth is painted by hand with designs using natural dyes and the using wax to allow certain areas of the fabric to be dyed and not others.
You can see they even use an old "Singer " sewing machine.

A typical old style village home consists of separate buildings for kitchen, bedroom, animal quarter, grandparents room, honeymoon room ( for 3 days only!) then back to be used by the mother and father.
Babies are not allowed to touch the ground at all until they reach 3 months of age.
Each traditional family house has its own temple....most Bali people are Hindu whereas the rest of Indonesia is mainly Muslim.

Other photos show people slicing rice cakes, gathering rice in the paddies, roasting coffee beans ( grown locally) and visiting the temple to bathe and make offerings.
