When you enter a new country it is expected that you fly a courtesy flag of
their country from the mast as a gesture of respect.
In all our collections we did not have a
Cook Islands flag so decided to make one.
We took a flag from the British Virgin Islands as a
base. Then we cut an L shaped section from an old blue T shirt. Diana
stitched this on over the red of the old flag.
I made a template out of an old connflake packet
and cut 15 stars into it with a Stanley knife.
Then we spray painted the stars onto the flag using
the template.
Blue Peter would have been especially proud! ( flag
joke!!)
