                | position 50:20N 004:38.4W We were joined by a Racing pigeon as we
crossed the north part of the Bay of Biscay. Even though we were 150 miles from
land. He stayed with us for 2 days until we
arrived in Fowey. Luckily there was a telephone number on
the ring on his leg.......a French telephone number. I spoke to his French owner in a mix of
English and French and established he was a young bird considerably off course
and unlikely to make it back to France. The owner suggested we try to find a
home for him in England! I contacted the Racing Pigeon website and
found a kind local representative who travelled all the way from Bodmin to Fowey
and collected " Carrie R" as we had named her.. We are sure she would have
perished without us giving her a lift. Fowey was a great place for the arrival
home in England for 'Into the Blue' , 4 years and 3 months since she left
here. We had a meal out with two of my
daughters... Charlotte and Nathalie, and also Sam's family and friends.....very
nice Cornish fish and chips for me. And then said 'Goodbye' to Sam....for him
the end of an amazing 2 year adventure. |
