The timing of our arrival ( weather apart) could
not have been better. We arrived just before the start of the second leg of the
Volvo Ocean Race.
Eight 70ft racing yachts were all lined up in
the harbour and at first we were berthed right in among them.
The day of the start was stunning, clear skies, a
light offshore breeze and excellent visibility.
We took the inflatable dinghy and positioned
ourslelves at the windward mark so that we could see the yachts sail past with
Table Mountain in the background....and it worked. We had a slight jostle
with the poilce boat but otherwise had one of the best positions to capture the
early part of the race past Cape Town.
Their next stop is India and today Ericsson 3 and 4
are in the lead with Puma third.
