The birds of prey are kites, there are hundreds. Some are called firebirds because when the aboriginees set fire to the lower layers of the bush to renew the growth of young shoots and plants the kites pick up smouldering sticks, carry them off to a distant spot and start a new fire so that they can eat the small animals that scatter from the fire.  how clever.
