Moved on to the British Virgin Islands
and landed in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda. Completely different to the southern
part of the Caribbean. Much lower islands with white sand beaches, calmer
conditions and less rainfall.......a refreshing change.
The birds are. I think, laughing gulls
with a peculiar call, and very brave.
The highlight for me was diving on the
wreck of RMS Rhone which was wrecked in about 1870 by a hurricane. The wreck is
in shallow water so easy to see the propeller and engine. Also lots of fish and
coral. The wreck was used in the film sequel to Jaws by Peter Benchley called
'The Deep'. It featured a very large aggressive Moray Eel but fortunately this
did not make an appearance!
