Title: Port Resolution, Tanna 19:29.86S 169:26.33E

As we approached the island of Tanna at dawn we could see the glow of the active volcano, Mt Yassur, being reflected in the clouds, and as the light came up clouds of ash puffed up into the morning air. We did this 50nm passage overnight with a good breeze and a rolling sea behind us, so we left in the evening and arrived at first light with the day ahead of us.

Port Resolution was visited, and named by Captain James Cook in 1774 - an not a lot has changed since. I suspect Stanley, who runs the, only just Port Resolution Yacht club was probably one of Cook's first visitors in a dugout trying to trade fruit and vegetables.

>From teh anchorage we can see the pulsing glow of the volcano at night over the top of the hill behind us. Quite something to be sleeping in the lap of a volcano.
