Affordable Satellite (subjective!), is not stunningly faster than the SSB technology that's several decades older, but it isn't subject to radio interference, so much more reliable.
Anyway - this is to confirm the blog post with photo is a go via the Iridium Go! satellite box on x86. The picture is of the Hydrovane wind steering unit, which I've just serviced, ready for the big offshore. The onboard Raymarine autopilot is fantastic, but anything electronic can fail, and it uses quite a bit of power (precious when on batteries), especially when it's working hard. Hence the Hydrovane - no power, self steering - a very well regarded system (as it should be for the cost of the thing!).
