Easy 3 hours up to the Canal. As we approach, a water bomber appears and does 2 practice pick up and drops, right next to us. Freaking awesome. Then on the third pass, he lands in the water 500 meters off our Starboard - ludicrous luck! - and spends 15 mins practicing water manoeuvering!

We arrive at the Canal. Second time up (first was 5 years ago on a cat we chartered). Wonderful experience, but then there were the dogs! You tie up at a warf to go pay the 173 Euro fee, and wait until they call on the radio, for you to untie and go for it. We waited only 10 mins after paying and we're told to slot in after a tanker being towed into the canal. Chance on the helm, K and I on the ropes. Untie bow and she starts to blow off. Start to slip the stern rope and three scabby dogs sprint over and grab the rope! We're pulling like crazy, they are barking and having a ball pulling their end like crazy. Boats increasingly being blown off. Scary and hysterical and the same time. Eventually we prevail, just, and head up the canal!
