Cartehenya was simply, nice. Not awesome, but a worthy stop for a couple of nights, while we push on to catch up with VC. We did the big bus tour, and I gocycled all over. That bike is ace. It's so good at effortlessly covering territory, that most places the big bus went to, I'd already been. I did stretch my luck however, having not recharged it for several outings. I ran out of juice on a climb, and sweated myself silly, determined to still get to the top. Yes, human power like for the last hundred years - stop winging - however - don't forget that no power doesn't make it 'just a bike', the motor and battery dead weights, are heavy!
Left today at a very respectable 09:30 as we were in no hurry. Target Garrucha - just a quick one night  stop, so as no exploring required (ordinary town), it didn't matter if we arrived at 15:00 or 17:00. Most excellent trip down. I played with the water-maker for a couple of hours as we've not needed it yet, but I need to know it inside out for the Atlantic crossing. Mixed results - probably shouldn't have left it off so long, now need to do a full chemical clean as the water tasted 'a bit dodgy'!
Took over the watch from Karen and the wind was picking up great. 20 knots on the bum and stern swell of 1.5 meters. Turned off the Iron sails, and cruised on wind power for the next 3 hours. Blooming lovely and the fuel saving is good. Wanted to try and flush the new fuel through in a single go if possible, and then fill both tanks with another full fresh batch. Now able to easily make the next stop and run the fuel down to fairly low.
Garrucha Marina is empty, so Chance parked us side on. He does all close quarter helming now - he's just so relaxed and easy - brilliant- means I can cover other issues. That said, Karen is now really good, so when Chance is not around, I'll be a lot happier with her running the deck stuff.
Side on means a quick out in the morning. Expect to be out at 07:00 as the run is likely 9 hours. Should be back with VictoryCat mid afternoon in Almerimar.
