At last we have made it 20 and a half days from Bermuda, which seems to Chris to be a bit slow but the boats we have already spoken to have all taken around the same time. We are even hearing tale of dismastings and rescues!! The other boats in our wireless group are still at sea and unfortunately the forecast is not good for them over the next couple of days. We feel sorry for them but at the same time glad we are safely tied up in harbour.
Faial look really green and lush but I suppose anything would after nearly 3 weeks at sea. Once we get ourselves sorted out we are looking foreward to exploring a bit of the island and perhaps go whale watching as we didn't see any on our approach. We have now a different set of noises to listen to no more sea rushing past the hull or even crashing into it but we can hear birds and the chuch bells have just chimed. Fortunately, unlike most of the U.K. traffic noise is low despite the fact that the marina is right in the centre of the town. Time to go and get the chores done, Oh a sailors work is never done!!
