Had an uneventful 5hr motor from PLF to Lorient yesterday, not this time to Port Louis but in the marina in the centre of town because it was easier for the sail man. When we arrived Clare was hoping for a decent meal but everywhere was either shut or full except a curry house which she accepted without complaint.

This morning we got our new mainsail, everyone agrees that 13 years for the old one was pretty good going. As it came down the sailmaker noticed a tear at the top of the leach which he easily extended with his fingers! We all agreed we had had a lucky escape.

Weather is cloudy but hot and France like England is moaning about worst water shortage since the water company CEOs last got a bonus. Even the locks on the Vilaine are shut for most/all of the time and the Île de Groix won’t even let you fill your water tanks.

Hopefully we’ll meet up with Robert et al in Quiberon soon.
