2.35N 81.3W 17:00 on Wednesday 2/4/09 Motored all day, no ships or dolphins; one flying fish. Minor progress on repairs, alternator playing up but still serviceable and there’s no way I’m touching that unless I’m forced to! Steak for supper. Keith I have just had a shower. And I am wearing clean white pants. I smell divine. I think I am the cleanest man onboard…That said the only other man on board has been down below all day tidying the boat like a legend and getting wonderfully sweaty in the process. I meanwhile have been sat in the sun playing with the sextant and pretending to know all there is to know about astro-navigation. Suffice it to say, if you were now to drop me anywhere in the world, with only a sextant, a watch telling the time at Greenwich, a pad of paper, a pencil, a protractor and a few very heavy books with some ludicrously complex tables in them, I think within a day or two, I could tell you where I was. I think that’s quite something. I saw more than one flying fish. Guido I have done my head in with the sextant. Long live GPS. Clare |
