Our anchorage just up from Portofino had been quite calm overnight and definitely a good spot for swimming water 23 and so clear. Our question was what to do for the day??

So we first of all took the dinghy to have a look in the harbour at Portofino and see what we were missing for €205. All morning there had been small boats plying to and fro from a large cruise liner anchored out in the bay.

Crowded little harbour both on the water and on land - we not sure where they would have put us maybe that was the problem? Lots of restaurants round the edge and yes some very fine houses

Moy Toad at anchor

After we’d had a little pootle around in the dinghy we didn’t go ashore we went back to the boat and on the way saw this bait ball lots little silver fish with the odd big fish jumping through them and after we’d left sea gulls diving down for a feed too

We then towed the dinghy and went across to look at Rapello but decided we didn’t fancy going into the marina and two bays where could anchor according to the book were bumped off so couldn’t enter. So we went back to St Margharita with the intention of leaving the boat at anchor and catching the train one stop to Caglioni. Again somewhere that sounded interesting from the book but not suitable for boats over 10 m. and we are 16.
