After 2 nights in the anchorage we set off to head north up the west of Guadeloupe. After an hours good downwind sail across the channel from Les Saintes we entered calmer water in the lee and stopped in the small harbour at Grand Bourg to refuel. We then carried on sailing and motoring as little wind other than the odd gust down from the mountains. We were surprised at how populated the coast is although hilly. A clear day so we could see La Souffriere at the southern end. We arrived at Pigeon Island in time for lunch and were able to pick up a yellow buoy just off the island which is the place to snorkel - part of the Cousteau Marine Park.
