We left our lovely if slightly rolly anchorage at 9.30 this morning. Sea pretty calm and a clear sky with good last views of the north east corner of Majorca and the lighthouse Cabo de Formentor .

We motor sailed for about 3 hours very little wind, sun shining , sea sparkling with the odd yacht and fishing boat around and the ferry returning to Majorca from Menorca. David also put the fishing line out but I have to say no fish caught between the two islands!!

At around 12.30 the wind got up and we had a great sail for about 2.5 hrs doing between 7 and 8.5 knots reaching the SW point of Menorca. We had hoped to return to one of the lovely small calas we went into last year on our circumnavigation of the island but with the wind direction of south/ south east we have come into a fairly large Cala where we have been able to tuck ourselves round the corner under the cliffs. This Cala has a good beach to walk along but several not very attractive hotels behind. No other yachts and not many holiday makers - those there are are wrapped up in several layers even though sunny there is still a chill in the air .

So we think we shall stay here 2 nights swell permitting and tomorrow do a coastal walk for some exercise back to the Calas we wanted to anchor in. Thursday we shall go straight to Mahon to catch up with laundry and victualling and cleaning the boat before friends / crew arrive Saturday to help take the boat across to Sardinia early next week.
