Day 15 (start of)

After fourteen days at sea and 1700 nautical miles we have almost completed our long curve around the Eastern Pacific high pressure zone and will soon be able to point directly at Hiva Oa, our landfall in the Marquesas ... some 3,400NM away!

One thing is beginning to become crystal clear. The Pacific Ocean is big. No, I mean really big. Think of something incredibly big ... only bigger. The Pacific Ocean is vast!*

It really is that hard to get our head around the  reality of the experience. The Pacific covers over a third of the surface of our planet, is twice the size of the Atlantic (North and South), and has a surface area greater than all the land masses combined, some 165 million square kilometres!

Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ...

I think I need a little lie down.
