SATURDAY, 11TH MAY
We anchored off HARBOUR TOWN MARINA. at 18.50
We had dinner on board.
SUNDAY, 12TH MAY
We went into the marina, with 0.0 under our keel for a bit at the entrance but it soon got deep again. We came alongside the fuel dock to take on some fuel.
Frances and Gino (Frances is Jonathan’s 1st cousin once removed) came to visit us with their children Luca and Cara. Gino is flying jets for the RAF and is a squadron leader the jets are soon to be joining HMS Queen Elizabeth. They are packing up and relocating to England from Beaufort.
We had a great day with them, Luca, aged 4, was so excited about the boat. We had lunch on board and then found a beach, eventually, that had sand which we could land on in the dingy so that the children could have a run around and play. Unfortunately the weather was not playing ball, we had a thunderstorm and lots of rain not easy when you have a young family on board. They were great though and we did a lot of catch up chat. It was ashame it was such a short visit but hopefully we can see them again back in the UK.
We anchored off Bull Island for the night and it was lovely and quiet and sheltered, slept very well.
MONDAY, 13TH MAY
We rented bicycles to explore the island. During our exploration we visited the beach on the East side, it was twelve miles long and lovely. We cycled along some of it on the hard sand, which a lot of people appeared to be doing. There were quite a few dead Horseshoe Crabs their shells are so primitive looking. If I knew how to preserve one without it smelling I would have taken one to mount on the wall of our new home. We passed over a lake with Alligators in as well. The first area we were in is called Sea Pines and it is lovely again with some lovely houses with gardens on to the beach, lots of clapperboard and large windows.
We cycled all the way to Skull Creek Marina, a little too far for Jonathan who was a tad sore when we eventually got back to our marina.
Dinner ashore in the Marina at the Quarter Deck, not good, surly service, main course arrived on our table before we had finished our first course, food not brilliant.
