The Firdge and Air conditioning are now sorted. Early morning shop for
fresh food and now
we are at last on our way from Antigua to Bonaire and settling down for our
night watch at 9.30 p.m..
On board are Jonathan and Gabbie and Fennella and John Boxhall.
We past Monserrat late this afternoon on it's west side, the north end
looked very green and beautiful then the volcano appeared on the south side and
was pink in the sunset and still spewing volcanic dust.
Dinner prepared of grilled steak, new potatoes and cauliflower
cheese.  Just past a 650 foot cruise ship and I bet because of all their
ambiant light they are unable to see the thousands of stars and the
phosphorescence of the sea which we have been gazing at in awe and wonder.
Must find out if Allan Dobson has left his star gazer on board (a fantastic
little machine that works on GPS, you pick a star click on it and it tells you
all about it and how many light years away it is)
We are presently tracking along at abotu 8 - 9 knots in a 15 -20 knot
easterly wind.
Jonathan is having fun with his ship recognition chip (AIS) and finding out
who they are where they are heading.
For those of you who have been wondering what on earth we have been doing
since the last blog at the beginning of 2008 we have spent the last two years
between the odd trips home cruising the islands of the Caribbean from the BVIs
down to Grenada and then back up again and on to Bermuda, across the Gulf Stream
(running at 4.5.knots from West to East and 60 miles wide at the point we
crossed it) and on up to Bar Harbour in Maine.  From there we headed south
slowly over the summer calling in on interesting towns and islands as far as
Annapolis in Chesapeake Bay and had a great time exploring the rivers and creeks
of the bay.  Jonathan and some friends sailed Aqualuna from there at
the end of November to Antiqua I wasn't too keen on the idea of snow on the
deck!
We hope to arrive in Bonaire on the 16th Jan'.
