Having had the Solenoid replaced by the agents of Yanmar we were able to prepare to leave Bodrum. First we went to the market on Friday morning to shop for vegetables and spices then walked down to another area to buy fresh prawns and meat. We set sail with a good wind blowing in the afternoon and dropped anchor in Piresun Koyu and met up with Carol & David Wilmington (from Exeter) who were already at anchor in their Jeaunneau. We went over and had drinks with them before they joined us for dinner on board. See picture below. Other pictures of the market in Bodrum. We had a lovely time, swimming and enjoying watching some of the other VERY large yachts come and go and slipped anchor at about midday. The next day we set sail to Turk Buka or Golturkbuku. The wind was strong and gusty and we ended up dragging our anchor so rather than take the dingy ashore and explore what is known as the St. Tropez village we left. Just as well as we would not have got much sleep anyway the music from the various clubs amalgamated together, blaring across the bay was really making the yacht vibrate not even good music but head banging stuff. We motored not very far across to Ilica Buka and found a lovely spot, very rural away from the other yachts and on shore music. Just the noise of cows and Cicadas and smell of pine trees and olive groves. A lazy morning was spent swimming and reading and just enjoying the area. We left after lunch and sailed to Asian Limani. An ancient Byzantine port and fort. The ruins of the castle towering over the small fishing village and the remains of a fortified Roman/Byzantine town in the olive groves on the opposite side of the bay where we were anchored. There is a low sunken breakwater built in Byzantine times with the ruins of a tower to protect the entrance, to enter we had to line up the Mosque minaret to enter between the sunken walls. Pictures on next blog. SS |
