SYDNEY!!! DECEMBER 19TH, 2011

We have arrived! Came through The Heads an hour ago in the middle of a massive thunder storm could hardly see a thing through the fog and rain. We have dropped anchor in Spring Cove near Manly and will make our way up to Cammeray marina tomorrow morning through the Split Bridge. Lovely to be here there is something about Sydney that we just love, a City with lots of water, brilliant harbour, mountains, parks, bush and a vibrant city atmosphere. We have already been invited to a Cammeray Marina Christmas Party on the 24th December and dinner that night with friends then off to other friends on Christmas Day morning to spend a couple of days celebrating Christmas.
I have to admit it has not been the best sail down the coast from Mooloolaba, the weather has not been kind to us with head winds and big swells with rough waves right on the nose. Instead of slowly making our way down the coast as planned and going for walks and exploring during the day inland we have had to spend just a night sheltering in bays and islands to get to Sydney in time for Christmas so seen lots of sea and coast line but not much of Australia as such. very frustrating.
Another Southerly Buster is due tomorrow, big storm warnings out, so very pleased we are now in the sheltered confines of Sydney Harbour. It will also be great to get into the feeling of Christmas which is difficult when one is at sea just the two of us. I have a few simple decorations for the yacht and a few lines of clear lights, not as gaudy as some yachts, which I hope to put up when the weather is clearer and we are in the marina, Jonathan who is not so sentimental about Christmas is a little half hearted about it all but I am trying to ignore it and just enjoy regardless it will still feel very strange without the offspring around and picking up their excitement.
