We set sail from the BVIs for Saba and anchored overnight in Ladder Bay, which originally was the only way onto the island. Saba Island is in the first photo. The houses perch on the cliffs. On to St. Kitts early the following morning and anchored off Basseterre. Ashore for a very good dinner and to explore the town. The following day we rented a van and driver to explore the island. Visited the old Sugar Plantation to see how it was all done under slave labour. On to an old plantation inn for lunch in beautiful gardens. Sadly our driver insisted on pointing out every University, School and College we drove past which became a tad tedious in the end. After a shop for food we sailed for only half an hour to White Bay and ashore for pre-dinner drinks and to watch the sun set. A very good new place, beautifully done called ‘Salt Plage’ Around the corner is the new Super Yacht marina which is under development still see second photo. Nevis the following morning a lazy day swimming and having fun, walked on the beach. Back to the yacht for cold lobster, which I served with Mango and Advocado salsa. The next day we set off for the museum about Alexander Hamilton and then another about Nelson. Up to the plantation where he met his wife and married her. Looked around the Botanical gardens and then back to the yacht to sail back to St. Kitts where we will be saying ‘goodbye’ to Ted, Hazel and Jonathan R. |
