Friday was a bank holiday for Emancipation Day, when all the slaves were freed.
We returned to the yacht after doing our sightseeing during the morning mentioned on the last blog.
Sorted things out on the yacht in the afternoon and rested up.
Went to ‘El Ancla Restaurant’  recommended to us for  good seafood………. took awhile to find it, in a VERY quiet part of town by the sea.  We were the only customers bar one other couple who left soon after we arrived, the restaurant was large about 20 large tables and very basic.  Food ordered but took over three quarters of an hour to arrive, it was medico, the server literally plonked the plates down on the table, we won’t go there again. Got a taxi back to the Board Walk near where we left the dingy.  Went for a wonder as it was quite lively and looked fun had drinks at a restaurant where everybody was dancing outside to Bomba live band, huge fun.  We got into it as well, but not quite with the same style as the locals!!

Went back to the dingy dock to go back to the yacht, to find a load of teenagers sitting on the dock side with their feet in the dingy, we got talking with them, they wanted, or some of them wanted, to practice their English.  They were facinated by the dingy and asked if they could go for a ride, so they piled 4 of them into the dingy and we took them out to the yacht where they came on board, eyes popping out of their heads……. they stayed for a couple of hours chatting.  The 17 year old girl, Natalie, wanted to become a Paediatrician and had won a scholarship to the the local university to read medicine.  I wish now we had swapped email addresses just to see how well she did in life, she was intelligent and lovely to talk with but had never been out of Porto Rico.  Bed eventually at 2 a.m……...

Up the next morning J went to check us out of Immigration only to be told they would not be open again until Monday.  Went to do a veg and fruit shop.  Set sail at 12.30 to go further west down the coast and hopefully check out there. The idea is to do the 150 mile sail to the Republic of Dominica tomorrow after checking out of immigration at Marina Pescaderia.
