We had a lovely evening our last night in Bequia with Donald’s friend and her friends. They came on board for drinks first, then we ended up at Jacks on Princess Margaret Beach, very good buffet and delicious Lobster bisque to start with. After dinner we went up to the house belonging to Amanda and Bruce. Well……. what a dream place, perfect views across the island on all sides and across to Mustique and the Cays. The architecture was a complete dream, all limestone flooring and cream walls, U shaped with an infinity pool in the middle, drift wood decoration, simple and tasteful, protected from the Easterly trade winds but still taking advantage of the breezes that go through… talk about wanting to covert it… green was not a strong enough feeling.

The following morning we were up early and set sail up the East coast of St. Vincent, just as we reached St. Vincent we caught a small 4lb Tuna. We arrived in Marigot Bay to meet up with my niece Dai and her partner Augusto. It was Donald’s last night so we all went to the Rainforest Hideaway for dinner, after having sashimi on board with our drinks. I had ‘Lionfish', delicious, they are catching as many as they can as they were introduced to the Caribbean recently and are predators to many local fish, they are very attractive to look at but the spines are poisonous.
It was lovely to see Dai and do some catching up again over coffee the following morning.

Dai and Augusto left to sail down to the Pitons off ‘Sugar Beach Hotel’ for the day and night, they hadn’t got around to much sailing yet as they had tank then battery problems so they were desperate to get going. We are meeting up with them next month once we have Tina on board. Part of the cost of the mooring buoys in Marigot is the use of the hotel facilities so I am afraid I had a lazy time off the yacht relaxing by the pool after we (Donald, Jonathan and I) had lunch together. Donald left at about 5pm to get his flight back to the UK, he appeared dressed up in cord trousers and long sleeved shirt ready for the cold of the UK, he felt VERY hot on board.

The following day we sailed around to Rodney Bay, not my favourite, at anchor in a bit of a swell doing cleaning and laundry. We are planning to go into the marina next week for a couple of days so that Vision (a really great Rastafarian guy) can polish the yacht hull and stainless steel he usually sings Rastie songs as he does his work. He did our old yacht 8 years ago, it was great to find him again.

Today we met Alex and Anna whom we last saw at the end of the ARC 2015 when Jonathan and I held a pontoon party for the OCC. They are coming on board for drinks tomorrow evening.

Tina McFarlane joins us at the end of this week for ten days so we are heading south again to meet up with Dai and Augusto.
