This is our third night out on our way from Gibraltar to the Canaries. Three of us have been doing 3 hours on and 6 hours off night watches. We had a great sail on our first night until we hit unlit fishing nets……I had just gone to sleep when I heard Jonathan’s dulcet tones ' All hands on deck'. The chaps laying the fishing nets were not too far away and they launched a dingy to come over and swear at us in Moroccan and cut us free, it didn’t take long. A few more lit, with strobe lights, fishing nets down the coast so we headed out into deeper water. Since that night it has been dead calm, the Atlantic is like a mill pond and so we have been motoring along quite happily.
We have Hedley Saunders on board with us, a very easy going guy and a good friend. He is very good at keeping his heads and area clean and helping out in the galley when necessary. He appreciates my food which is rather up-lifting. Today he put Pink Floyd on at a high volume so we were dancing around the yacht. The weather has been a bit cool and damp with fog coming down occasionally. We have another 12 hours to go before we arrive in the Canaries.
