We stayed in Pirates Bight for Saturday afternoon so that Jonathan could watch the rugby, England versus Italy, England won.
BENURES BAY, Norman Island
11 am we motored around to Benures Bay, one of the loveliest bays we have been in for a long time and sheltered from the constant stronger than normal trade winds.
Anchored very close to the shore in 8 metres of water, it was like a private swimming pool turquoise and crystal clear and calm.  A charter Cat’ from the USVIs anchored near us and Ben a really nice chap came over for a chat to make sure we were happy with him anchoring there.   Name of the cat’ was ‘Ma Cherie Amor’.
Poured with rain overnight.  We went ashore at 9.20 and did a very good hike across the west side of the island.
Found a very secluded cove and nobody else around at all so had a cooling skinny dip.  Somebody had decorated one of the trees with shells and put up an old hammock.  We returned back to the yacht at 13.00 hours.
Met a young couple on our way back who were running for exercise and they asked us about Benures Bay so they decided to come and anchor there as well.  On our return to the yacht we stopped and talked to a couple from the UK who had anchored near us.  Invited them over for drinks, David and Baibina Leeming on a blue cat called ‘ONDINE’ plus their dog Lola. We also invited the young couple, Geoffrey (aged 24) and his girlfriend Pip. whom we had met on the path and anchored near us.  They arrived for drinks at 6 pm and left at 11pm.!!!
Jonathan went across to Ondine the following morning as David and Geoffrey wanted advice on fishing.
We left the bay, sadly, that afternoon to sail across to Nanny Cay to have the new part for our water maker fitted by Dave at 13.00 and all fitted an hour later.
Dinner at the beach cafe that evening.
