We had a lovely time with Philip and Jane on board and it was sad to say ‘Goodbye’ to them, we went into Port Louise Marina for a couple of days.  Diana von Fustenburg’s yacht ‘EOS’ was along side, we had last seen her in the river Dart in devon on her maiden voyage; she is huge!  Cleaning and sorting the yacht, filling up with water.  Waiting to hear if the desalinator was to be mended but the part had not come through customs yet, we still managed by allowing the cracked end to discharge into the bilges it just took longer to make fresh water.

Two days later we were joined by Jane and John Spree.  It was a very special week for John who had just celebrated his 80th Birthday in Devon a few days before they joined us.  This was to be a continuation of the celebration.  We were lucky and had good weather but still strong wind.  We sailed up the west coast of Grenada.  They loved it and John had great fun taking the helm for awhile. We caught another Mahi mahi at just about the same spot we caught the huge one last time.  Anchored for the night in Tyrrell’s Bay in Carriacau Island.  On to Clifton in Union Island the next morning anchored off the reef and had great fun watching the Kite surfers.  They were also sailing in the night as it was a bright full moon, some of the kites were  lit up so it looked amazing to watch. The second photo’ shows the kite surfers on the reef as viewed from our yacht.  Late at night a green old style local yacht came and dropped anchor she is the one that featured in ‘Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean’.  We sailed across to Petit St. Vincent and booked into the beach bar restaurant for dinner, it was lovely and the service was excellent along with the atmosphere, it is just ashame the band finished so early as by the time we finished dinner and were ready to dance they packed up and went home.  After this we sailed to the Tobago Cays and anchored behind Petit Bateau.  We walked across the island to the beach with snorkelling gear and just snorkelled off the reef.  Saw alsorts of interesting fish including a box fish, and a shoal of black edge with florence blue fish, can’t find the card at the moment to recall their name.  We walked along the beach and Jonathan found a dead Porcupine fish washed up on the beach which is pictured below.  Jane swam but didn’t snorkel due to a hip problem but John joined us and loved it.    We had a great sail down the east coast Atlantic sailing back to Grenada and picked up a buoy in Grenada Marine, St. David’s Bay.  Here we had the end of one of the tubes of the desalinator replaced and ray marine also sorted out some problems with the navigation.  Whilst all this was going on John, Jane and I visited Sagrasse Beach for lunch and rented some sun-loungers for the afternoon.  The beach was very un-touristy but beautiful with sand and palm trees and a very small hotel.  We all went back to the hotel for dinner in the evening which was lovely out on a terrace over the beach.

We had the Mahimahi for dinner on board one evening and I cooked it having marinaded it in:-  Honey, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, grated fresh ginger root , garlic, olive oil and then grilled it on the griddle, served with rice and mange tout.  Another night we had Duck breasts which again I marinaded in Chinese Five Spice, soy, etc. and served with stirred fried Pak choi and noodles.

The following day we sailed around to ‘Secret marina’  to come along side.  We had to say a sad farewell to Jane and John who have gone to spend a few days on the north end of the island.  They were great to have on board so gung ho and ‘can do’ whatever we suggested.

The picture of the land Iguana is at Whisper Cove which we visited with Philip and Jane.
