Did a lovely walk across the island yesterday to a beach for a swim and
something to drink. The island reminds me of Mustique but smaller and much
more 'rundown' with houses closer together and not quite so much manicured land
around them. The atmosphere was lovely and the sand like soft baby talcum
powder. I was 'woken this morning at 3.a.m by a large, very noisy
fishing boat which came in amongst the moorings with crew shouting and laughing
great difficulty in getting back to sleep afterwards.
We have now set sail and gently pottering along under genoa making fresh
water with the desalinator. The 'boys' are cleaning the deck, much needed
afte Panama as there was so much black dust in the air. First disaster
with the food, my courgettes have gone mushy and had to be jettersoned, so no
roasted veg with courgette, did half suggest that we did half a day's motor back
to Panama to get some more veg but the firm answer was 'No!'
Amanda went swimming yesterday and got badly stung by jelly bugs, her skin
has reacted quite badly to them and she has come up in red welts over her torso,
fortunately I have lots of jelly fish sting soother on board, the other option
is white vinegar or for her to do some pee and dab herself with it as the uric
acid helps, don't think she is keen on that idea! Saw Dolphins playing in
the bay and Rays swimming around.
The sea is like a mill pond and it is very hot and sticky, we are making
1.1 knot under sail, but it is peaceful.
