Having set off to find another sheltered bay and hoping Turkili would be a good place, we found out that it was “Istanbul on Sea’  we had no idea how big and noisy it was when we were just a few miles away on another island which was very rural.  We anchored, with speed boats etc. buzzing around us and in a swell, the yacht held so we took the dingy ashore to do some food shopping and to have a look and try to sort out our Turkcell chip but to no avail.  A very ‘Working Class’ type of holiday resort, with very tacky shops and nothing of interest and a beach packed with bodies.  We left just as the load head banking music was playing. TOP PICTURE.

We headed back to our original anchorage in pitch dark and blowing about 35 knots.  We anchored more or less where we were before.

Early the following morning we upped anchor and sailed for ASMIALIKOY Bottom pictures.
A quiet turkish holiday resort and very small, it had one traditional wooden house still standing as pictured.
We looked for a Turckcell shop here but nothing at all.  Jonathan was able to ask a young couple on a Catamaran in the harbour if they knew and they offered the use of their personal wifi system so he was able to send and receive essential mail.
We left at 6 am the following morning to set sail for Istanbul.
