SUNDAY 7TH APRIL,2019

We set sail at 08.30 and arrived after motor sailing to CABO CRUZ and again picking our way through the reefs to get there. The Garda Frontera rowed out (rather bad rowing!) to board us. Two very young chaps not more than 24 years old. They were very serious, no smiles. We offered them a beer and they accepted straight away whilst we filled in numerous forms. They then had a second beer much to Jonathan’s chagrin…..

The light house was very impressive huge with romanesque architecture underneath it. The Cubans do maintain their lighthouses very well, thank goodness.
We went ashore in the dingy and came along side what looked like the public pier but were shooed away by a chap as it was private and for fishing vessels only. A chap approached us and said we could come along side his very rickety wooden pier. We asked him if it was possible to buy fresh fish or prawns he said ‘No’ as it was Sunday. We went for a walk along a coastal path, some children called out ‘William!! Jonathan’s first name (never used) the Garda must have told his younger brothers Jonathan’s name. Jonathan snorkelled out to a reef but not much to see unfortunately. The guy who let us use his pontoon caught up with us on his bicycle with a box of large frozen prawns for which we paid $20US. We rushed them back to the yacht and took the top ones off for a noodle stir fry that evening. The rest, still very frozen, went back in the freezer.

We had very heavy tropical rain overnight, good for washing the salt off the yacht.
