A very Happy New Year to you all! Hope you haven't given up on reading as
I have been rather lazy since finishing the ARC re Blogging.
We had a great Christmas in English Harbour, Antigua. The morning was spent
on the old quay side of Nelsons Dock Yard, really pretty, grass and
renovated buildings. An old fishing dingy full of ice and champagne which
we bought (it was done in aid of a local charity) a real party atmosphere
with loads of yachties and locals, a steel band and lots of dancing. The
day before we joined up with Karen (J's sister) and family. Christmas Eve
we had lunch in a lovely cafe (accessible only by dinghy). I had the most
delicious fois gras creme brulee, very decdent richness with a side
salad. Boxing day we had a lunch party on board with 16 of us. K and F, two
nephews their wife and girlfriend and three great neices and Trevor and
Sophie Coleman from Topsham.
We seem to be having more than the usual rain squalls through, everybody
says they have never seen so much rain, due to La Nina.
We did the sail from St. Lucia up to Antigua in one go taking about 24
hours. Now we are pottering back slowly down the coast of the various
islands, in convoy with John and A-M Yeo (we met John during the ARC he was
on Quasar V). He was joined by AnneMarie in St. Lucia and they are borrowing a
freind's yacht. It turned out that we know qute a few of the same people as
they lived in Singapore and he worked for Cable and Wireless. We spent New
Years Eve with them in English Harbour as it was also A-M's birthday. Lovely
dinner at Antigua Yacht Club then back to Nelsons Yard, where the yacht was
moored for fireworks, dancing and more rum punch.
Today we left Deshaies in Guadeloupe having spent the night there and having had
a very good seafood dinner ashore. Very
French, breakfast ashore with pain au chocolat and cafe. Shopped for
french bread for lunch. Now making our way to Pigeon Island, which is a
protected area and what Jacques Cousteau described as one of the best diving
areas in the world, so we will have a good snorkel around that area.
I will endevour to blog more frequently so keep looking.
