AUCKLAND

We are now in a marina having arrived a day earlier as strong winds were expected the day we were due to arrive. Without a bow thruster working it would have been very difficult to get into our 'slot' with strong cross winds. The winds were beginning to strengthen when we arrived but we had the help of the marina guys who met us with their dingy which helped us nose our way in. The following day we had 50 knot gusts of wind, we hunkered down sorted the warps and started sorting Aqualuna out to lay her up here for the NZ winter.
I am now scrubbing, hoovering and dusting, vacu packing sheets and pillows, cleaning curtains, deck cushions and saloon cushions, cleaning out the galley of perishable food and cleaning all the lockers, meanwhile Jonathan is scrubbing decks, polishing steel, taking sails off and organising for various works to be done on the yacht.
We awoke to a very cool cabin at dawn today so for the first time in a long time we put the heating on, it worked a treat and we had a lovely warm cabin and heads, now the sun is out and things are warming up quite rapidly, a good drying day.
