BRISBANE 11TH MARCH, 2011
We arrived in Brisbane four days ago and it has been clean, clean,
clean, scrub, scrub, scrub ever since. All galley under-floor and
under work-top lockers cleaned out, relined and re-organised and now
looking smart.
Fridge and freezer to do today. Oven cleaned tick. Forward cabins,
heads and saloon done and just our cabin and heads to do. Deck and
stainless steel now free of the large globules of salt, dingy and
outboard cleaned, sails washed down. Sadly in the process of doing
the smaller one today the wind suddenly caught it, it knocked against
the pontoon post knocking the conical head off it into the murky water
and the block came off the sail just as we turned our back on it for a
second whilst it was drying. Jonathan tried diving down to retrieve
the conical head but to no avail it must have sunk in the soft mud so
confessions have to be made to the marina manager.
Met up with the Laws last night, they came here for pre-dinner drinks
and brought along a lovely bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne which of
course we had to drink with some smoked salmon blinis I had made up.
Then off to our local fish restaurant for dinner.
Now I have to go and do my least favourite task and that is packing.
We have rented a car so hope to leave here on Monday morning to drive
down to Sydney to catch our flight in the early hours of Wednesday
morning.
This may be my last blog until we return to the yacht in Sept/Oct.
