Day 21 - Bahamas Cruising (Berry Islands - Grt Harbour Cay)

25:45.2N
77:52.5W
On
the move again - into some heavy winds - the tail end of a storm passing north
of us - kept us awake with sail changes until it settled into a pleasant
southerly as predicted. Genoa goose winged we made good progress around the
eastern edge of the Berry islands, passing an earlier anchorage off Market Fish
Cay and on towards the cruise liner faux village of Great Stirrup Cay.
As
we passed in front of Norwegian Sky - we thought it prudent to check that it was
staying on anchor - confirmed - they were still transferring passengers and
would be leaving later – sufficient time for us to be out of their way! Rounding
the northern tip of the Berry Islands and back on to the Great Bahama bank -
once again the colour contrasts were remarkable. Creeping
over the shoals (a little before high tide) we made it to our anchorage at
Bullocks Harbour again. Dinghy out and motor into the marina harbour to catch up
with some friends and fellow cruisers. It was good to catch up on stories so
far. Unfortunately, the outboard cord broke again as we set off (in the dark)
back to Magic Friday - so it was to the oars (declining a tow). Finding our
way back out onto the bank and heading to the single masthead light
- why did it appear so far away! Back onboard, the end to another good
day.
