Undoubtedly the light winds have been upon us – in fact NO winds after midnight. The sea is a blue glass – as flat as we have ever seen it! The morning light brought a school of “finned” white jellyfish gracefully drifting by. Later a possible whale sighting – instruments confirmed by a “shallow depth” alarm as it swam under the boat – not to be seen again (although we have had a few more such alarms – so doubt sets in that the instrument is not functioning properly – another task to inspect / repair)! Even the dolphins lazed in the sunshine and the calm waters – then suddenly they put on a show for us – jumping head first fully out of the water – well it was a hot sunny afternoon! A visitor also called by – a lone yellow finch looking for a rest on the stanchions but it seemed we were going in the wrong direction so, ignore our bread offerings, he left us to fly on…somewhere? Noon day run saw us covering 153nm in the last 24hrs and ~480nm to go – approaching the half-way point. Speaking of which – a traditional swim (Mike and I) – crystal clear water, warm and cold patches – it felt great! Sundowners and dinner rounded off the day – despite the absence of sailing!
