Day 6 - Bahamas Cruising (South Cat Cay)

25:31.7N
79:15.8W Cloudy
to start - thunderstorms predicted in the late afternoon - time to move to
another idyllic location - all of 3nm south : South Cat Cay. A gentle
sailing with only the genoa catching the light breeze as we slide over a steel
blue sea, making fresh water along the way. Investigated Cat Point -
the southern tip of South Cat Cay for anchorage - too rocky for our liking we
settled on another eastern anchorage part way along the Cay - knowing
a south westerly wind would be blowing us onshore - we set the spare anchor as a
stern anchor this time - just in-case! The nearby sandy beach was
inviting us to go ashore an explore (as South Cat Cay is NOT a private
island)! What a beach - alive with hermit crabs scurrying away, sponge
coral and rock crevices full of old conch shells - melodically
chiming together as the water ran over them! Thick growth just a few yards
in from the beach prevented us from traversing the island - no matter a game of
beach bowls for the competition points and then back to the boat for home
made pizza and bread baking -
delicious! Phil and Di
