A bright sunny Sunday morning - time to run the
Cooper River bridge (Di to bike it) - along with several other runners, walkers,
bikers and 8 lanes of US17 highway! The bridge, opened in 2005 has a main
span of 1,546ft (471m) - the 3rd longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western
Hemisphere - but more to the point it rises to height of 575ft (175m) -
quite a pull to go up, down, up and down again (and again - just for the fun of
it)! great views from the top - the busy shipping channel, the marina and
downtown Charleston all in one vista! Back to the boat - disconnect the new
batteries at the terminals (not risking another expensive replacement set) and
home to Atlanta...all in a weekends work!
