The morning greets us with clear blue skies and sun streaming through the portholes, chasing away a cold, damp night, Ready to start final tasks before leaving (day dependent on weather). So, first up the mast - using the port side electric winch this time as we had suspicions of the starboard winch - sure enough - doubts confirmed as it started to winch on its own whilst I was atop - good job I wasn't on the end of that winch this time!! A little breezy but calm waters makes working at 65ft above the waterline a little more comfortable. The wind anemometer was once again twisted (courtesy of the local migratory blackbird "Crackles" perching atop) - this time a metal araldite glue should hold it pointing in the right direction for some time to come. As always, great views from the top - including neighbours and friends boats (Gone with The Wind (Australian flag) and Wanderer (Virginia registered)). All other fittings inspected on the way up - easy back down and a job done. Thence to the local supermarket - good old "Win Dixie" - fully provisioned ready to leave! One last trip - to West Marine and peruse their inflatable dinghies as sadly (and expensively) we have to replace Mini-Magic - suddenly too many air leaks to repair and yet not an overly used boat. No decision yet - we have time! A stroll down to the marina Yacht Club for a very pleasant social get together, drinks and new friends. Phil and Di |
