Day 6 - Bahamas Cruising

Sunrise over Bimini and some respite in the wind - time to leave - after all it is Wedn (Day 6) and we are only on our first Bahama Island,,,,is this a cruise or just a lay-over?! Forgot to check for planes as we slipped our lines and left Oceaniare's private dock, so "waiting on the runway" whilst the seaplane took-over was the first hazard of the day to avoid! Next came the tricky exit, we crept out with with the help of high tide and just inches under the keel - open sea again. The fresh, strong easterly kept us busy as we sailed to North Rock - which looked more like a submarine than a rocky island! Once rounded we were on the Little Bahama Bank and shallow waters of 9-12ft of crystal clear water – some small respite from the wave heights, but still the easterly blew hard. So we had to tack back and forth, back and forth - making slow slow progress east across the bank beating to wind. The day slipped by and night descended - we were half way across! Not to worry, 3 hour watches and 3 hour tacks coincided nicely we sailed on through the night.
